Is Office 365 Migration something your company needs? Allow our team to assist with Office 365 migration efforts and subsequently streamline email processes.
Cutover Migration
Cutover migration allows you to migrate all mailboxes simultaneously. It is recommended if you’re utilizing Exchange 2003, Exchange 2007, Exchange 2010, or Exchange 2013, and your business features less than 2,000 mailboxes. Performing cutover migration is possible through the Setup Wizard, but it’s limited to migrating 150 mailboxes.
This migration option allows you to move your entire email system to Office 365 in a matter of days. However, careful planning is strongly recommended.
Staged Migration
Staged migration is suggested if you’re running Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007 and working with more than 2,000 mailboxes. This migration option cannot be used to migrate Exchange 2013 or Exchange 2010 mailboxes to Office 365, and you must synchronize accounts between on-premise Active Directory domain and Office 365 via Azure Active Directory sync to ensure successful staged migration. Only user mailboxes and resource mailboxes are available for staged migration, and you cannot migrate Out of Office messages.
Staged migration also requires users to create new Outlook profiles. Administrators are able to access email with staged migration.
Hybrid Migration
Hybrid migration is recommended for maintaining on-premise as well as online mailboxes, or if you’re gradually migrating emails to Office 365. This migration option is available if you have Exchange 2010 and more than 2,000 mailboxes, or if you have Exchange 2010 and wish to migrate mailboxes over a period of time in small batches. Hybrid migration is also available if utilizing Exchange 2013.
PST Import
Does your organization feature a large number of PST files? Office 365 Import Service is available to migrate email data. Use the service to upload PST files through a network or mail the files in a prepared drive.
User Migrates Own Data
It’s also possible for users to import their mailbox information to Office 365, whether from Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo. Different migration methods are available depending on what system is being used. For example if your source system is Gmail and you want to move mailbox data to Office 365’s Outlook 2016, you’ll need a version of Outlook that is already installed on your desktop. The same is true if you have an older version of Outlook and desire to move data to Outlook 2016.
